WHAT is LOVE... really?

We all have our own, very unique, respective definitions of what love is, but within most definitions run a fluid constant.. that constant however is in my opinion one of the most difficult things to pinpoint.. i think that constant is the idea of love = change. I dont think i know of 1 person who has been in love, & not changed in one way or another. Be it changing from wearing slutty club dresses cause her man doesnt like it.. or taking up french because his girlfriends 1/2 french.. be it teeny or huge everyone makes sacrifices when in "love" but the better question still remains, w h a t i s l o v e ? & if we know everyones definitions of love are different how do 2 people know when they're in love, on the same accord? is it that reason that so many relationships crumble like graham cracker pie crusts? is it because one party ASSumes the other party has deeper feelings for them than they really do? or is it because one senses the love from the other party, and runs in fear of commitment? all these questions and more regarding love simply have no finite answer & perhaps are the reason it takes people so long to settle down & accept or engage in love. Love is SCARY, its terrifying, its unchartered land for many & it's something that requires one give their all in a world where we much prefer to give barely 2% of who we really are to others in fear of hurt, or embarassment, or rejection.. that being said in my quest to find the most common constants in definitions of love.. i did what any other inquiring 21st century girl would do.. I googled it & this is what i found..

[wikipedia]

Love is any of a number of emotions related to a sense of strong affection[1] and attachment. The word love can refer to a variety of different feelings, states, and attitudes, ranging from genericpleasure ("I loved that meal") to intense interpersonal attraction ("I love my wife"). This diversity of uses and meanings, combined with the complexity of the feelings involved, makes love unusually difficult to consistently define, even compared to other emotional states.

A stranger you were once.
Then, with a gentle look you took my hand.
As our lives engaged,
you lit my life and I held both your hands.
Now that decades have passed,
ours souls have indeed become one.
How fortunate we are
that we have found the love so true
that everyone dreams about.
